Here are the Christmas pictures I've been promising you!
Lots going on with our family...Pavan is healing well following his shoulder surgery. He is doing physical therapy two times each week, and every day at home. Last week we had a scare when the physical therapist had some concerns about his elbow, but xrays showed that it continues to heal, even though it is causing him considerably more pain and trouble than his shoulder. The orthopedic surgeon told him it could be a year before he can fully extend the elbow without pain.
All of the children are doing well, keeping busy and already looking forward to some warmer weather! I guess after 4 winters in Wisconsin, the cold and snow start to get old!
Our big news is that Pavan has accepted a position with a surgery group in Sioux Falls, SD...so we will be moving this summer! We've been looking for a position in a bigger city, and were hoping it would get us closer to family. But it also had to be a position that would advance Pavan's career. The Sioux Falls opportunity will do all of that. Sioux Falls has a population of close to 200,000 people. It is a beautiful town, one we actually visited during our vacation last summer. The public school system is amazing, all of the children's activities will be available right in Sioux Falls, and we will be only 5 hours from Kansas City. Sioux Falls has a great airport, bigger than the one in Rhinelander but still a small airport that is very easy to navigate. And the group Pavan is joining is amazing! He will take a significant pay cut for the first couple of years, but that is to be expected while he builds his patient base. The group is made up mostly of young surgeons who are raising young families. They are all brilliant men, and very friendly too. (We spent a weekend in Sioux Falls interviewing, had a great time!) The other great thing is that the hospital is encouraging the surgeons to become fellowship trained, so they are willing to let the surgeons leave for one or two years and still pay them a salary while they are doing a fellowship! Pavan has hopedto do a fellowship for a long time, but we could never figure out how to survive financially for him to do that. So, this is truly an answered prayer!
