I took Anna to the doctor today. She's been very lethargic lately, taking a nap every afternoon, just laying around watching TV for hours at a time. Anyone who knows Anna realizes how abnormal that behavior is for her!! We always joke that Anna spends more time on her hands than on her feet, she's always flipping through the house, standing on her head, practicing hand stands, etc. If she's not doing gymnastics, she's outside playing and riding her bike. And if she's sitting still, she's on the computer playing games or talking on the phone with a friend. NEVER just sitting still and napping!!
I let it go for a week, thinking it was some beginning of summer laziness...but after a week, I called and got her an appointment with her pediatrician. It took a week to get in to see her, so we went this afternoon. They drew some blood, and called with the results this afternoon. Preliminary results show that Anna has Lyme's Disease. They are going to run a more precise test to verify the results, that should be done early next week. Thankfully, we caught it early, so she will get the necessary treatment ASAP. She will be on antibiotics (by mouth) for 3 weeks, and then will be considered cured....unless the symptoms persist. For those of you who remember MY experience with Lyme's Disease, rest assured...her case is nothing like mine!
Just wanted to let everyone know what is going on, and ask for all of your prayers. Anna is really frustrated to feel so tired all of the time, and is a little disgusted at the thought of a tick being attached to her for long enough to transmit Lyme's! It's just ANOTHER reminder of how important the proper protection is when you live in the Northwoods (although Lyme's is all over the country now...). We check the children EVERY night for ticks, and have found a couple crawling in Amaya's hair, but never found any on Anna. But the Deer Ticks that transmit Lyme's are very very small, the size of a freckle! Scary stuff!!
While I am on here, I want to tell you all aboutsomething exciting coming up for Noah. He is flying to Pavan's parents house for two weeks in July!! Pavan's mother is flying up to Rhinelander on July 7th, and on the 10th she and Noah will fly to Dallas. On the 19th, Pavan will fly down to Dallas to spend a couple of days with his family....then on the 21st he and Noah will fly into Kansas City. I am leaving Rhinelander on the 7th with the girls to head to Kansas City...we will leave to head back to Rhinelander on the 22nd....along with my brother and his family. It's all very exciting! Noah is SO excited to spend some time alone at Daddyma's house!
More later,
Rebecca
